You made it to Friday. It is time to see how well you did on Wednesday's quiz. Remember that regardless of the end result, pass or fail, you are still a person of unlimited potential; maybe a tinsy bit more potential if you passed!
Question #1
The Ingalls had two dogs at two different times. What were the dogs' names?
The first dog traveled with the Ingalls from the Big Woods to Walnut Grove. That loyal companion was Jack.
The second dog had to earn Laura's love as she was still grieving over the death of her beloved Jack. Bandit (so named because he was caught stealing) soon won over Laura's heart and was the second dog for the family.
Question #2
There were three pairs of real life siblings on Little House, one sister/sister; one brother/sister; and one brother/brother. Who were the actors and what parts did they play?
The first real life siblings, of course, were Lindsay and Sidney Greenbush. They both played the part of Carrie Ingalls. (You knew that though, right? Too easy!)
The brother/sister actors were Melissa and Jonathan Gilbert.
Jonathan played Willie Olsen.
Melissa Gilbert played half-pint, aka Laura Ingalls.
Finally the brother/brother siblings were Matthew and Patrick Laborteaux.
Matthew filled the role of adopted son, Albert Ingalls.
Patrick's part was Andrew Garvey.
Question #3
What actor played football at Utah State University? What character did he play?
Merlin Olsen was the character Jonathan Garvey on Little House on the Prairie. He played college football for Utah State University.

Laura had a horse. What was the horse's name? Why did she sell it? Who did she sell it to? How did she get the horse back? How did the horse die?
Laura's horse was Bunny. Laura sold the horse to Nellie Olsen to buy ma a stove for Christmas. Bunny was then returned to Laura after Nellie fell off Bunny. Nellie pretended she could not walk. Mr Olsen was furious with her and gave the horse back to Laura. Unfortunately, the reunion did not last long. Laura was riding Bunny through some fields. Bunny ran into a barbed wire fence that was not previously there. Pa had to shoot Bunny to put her out of her misery.

Many actors made guest appearances on Little House on the Prairie. The next few questions will deal with these guests. What guest actor played a morphine addicted Civil War vet?
Richard Mulligan, of Soap and Empty Nest fame, played the role of Granville Whipple, a Civil War vet dealing with a morphine addiction caused by war injuries.

What guest actor played a blind woman abandoned by her mother? The blind woman was a student of Mary's and was a gifted artist.
This guest actor was a very young Madeline Stowe.

What town and state did Little House on the Prairie take place in?
With the exception of one season, the television Ingalls lived in Walnut Grove, Minnesota for the entire duration of the Little House series.

What caused Mary's blindness?
Mary's blindness was caused from scarlet fever as a child. In truth the real Mary Ingalls became blind immediately from scarlet fever.

Miss Beadle was the school teacher. What was her first name? What was the name of the man she married?
Miss Beadle's first name was Eva. She married a student's father, Adam Simms. They became Adam and Eva Simms.

Extra props for anyone who gets this next three part question. One Little House on the Prairie regular had a hit song. What was the title of the song? Who was the actor and what role did he/she play?
Ketty Lester had the hit song, "Love Letters." She played Hester-Sue Terhune.

So I missed the quiz so I did it really fast so my knowledge was very lacking. Lots of I know that but couldn't think of it!! I din't bother to tally :)
ReplyDeleteLittle House is one of our family favorites...not so much the movies as the books. At one time I read the entire series to my kids. It took about 3 years, but it has created some fond memories for us!
